assignment #8 H. VanDyke

This article entitled its not about socialism, its about rescuing capitalism was written by a man named Harold Meyerson who writes for the washigton post. The article was written for a general audience and for people who might not know about the difference between capitalism and socialism. Capitalism is an economic system in which wealth is attained by the means of privately owned businesses rather than comonly or publically state owned businesses. This article was also written as the title of the aarticle says to ensure people that it is about rescuing the smaller businesses and not so much about the bigger businesses.
In the article the author points out that various politicians and news organizations have declared that "we are all socialist now" this was declared by newsweek added mike huckabee we are creating socialst republics. he also points out that " it is striking that their is an absence of advocates of socialism" and also makes a reference to the capitalist crisis of the 1930's when socialist and comunist spoke of nationalizing all major industries and getting rid of all the private markets and the wage system. the author also says that obama is creating a more socially competitive capitalism. it is clear in reading this article that the author wants the reader to understand that obama is trying to do what he feels is right for the country and tells the audience that obama is making our capitalism more like europes overall i thought this was a very informative article about capitalism verses socialism.

Assignment #8 A. Williams

In the article It’s Not about Socialism, It’s About Rescuing Capitalism written by Harold Meyerson, in the Washington Post, the idea is proposed that President Obama is turning to Socialism for the fix of our economy. Mr. Meyerson believes that President Obama wants to solve this crisis by signing stimulus plans for America. Does America really think that he is going to be “the man” and fix this? The shape of our economy did not happen overnight, it was a gradual process. I cannot say that I disagree or agree with Mr. Meyerson.

Assignment#6 A. Williams

In the article entitled Revenge of the Glut that was posted in the New York Times on March 2nd 2009 Paul Krugman describes to us how bad our economy has gotten. The article is directed towards the Americans who are curious to know where all of these economy troubles were perceived. The amazing facts about the troubles are that the American bankers created bubbles, and basically buried the problems. The bubbles have now been exposed and the nations that were once in good economic standing such as America, Iceland, Estonia, Ireland, are now experiencing a bad economic crisis. The reason for this is because they created the bubbles and eventually they burst into our situations. Our secrets were revealed and we are left with little to no money with the same needs and wants remaining. No solution has been concluded. In my opinion I think our country should turn to God. He is the only one who can pull us out of this crisis. Because our money says “In God We Trust,” why don’t we do what it says we do?

Assignment #8 by z.wright

The article: "It's not about socialism, it's about rescuing capitalism" by Harold Meyerson of The Washington Post is basically talking about President Obama being a socialist, and also saying that we are also socialist by creating the problem, but the reason why the arthor wrote this about socialist is because it seems that more people are worried more about bailouts and stimlus packages, than the economy being in shambles, this is directed towards the citzens because we are the ones to blame this uprising of socialism instead of blaming the president for the stimlus bill that was recently passed.

The basic argument the arthor wants to make is rising of socialism, and why should we bailout capitalism, and social capitalism is another thing blaming the failures of Wall Street and the worldwide crisis of commercial banks; the collapse of Japan, German and American exports; the decline of the U.S. auto industry; the failure of the Stock Market, and the low percentage of jobs at a all-time high I guess that social capitalism is blowing up big time and it is taking the whole world for a ride.

Assignment #8 pgriffin

This article was written by Harold Meyerson who wrote this article for the Washington Post, in which this article appeared. The article was written in response to critics of President Obama who feel as if President Obama has turned to socialism as a way out of the financial crisis America finds itself in. I have no idea who this article was directed to because I could not grasp its full meaning. I would guess and say it was written to the American public and those in political office as well.

Mr Meyerson basic argument is that President Obama is not trying to set up a socialist government but is trying to reform the capitalist system we now have. Mr Meyerson seems to believe that because of the lack of oversight on the capitalist system many have brought it to its demise, or neat demise. Mr Meyerson point is don't blame the direction of the stimulus package on socialist agenda but rather blame it on the out of control capitalist society. Capitalism caused its own overhaul and if President Obama realizes his agenda, what should emerge according to Mr. Meyerson who calls himself a democratic socialist is a more social, sustainable, competitive capitalism. I put my trust in God's system not capitalism or socialism. God's system is the only one that will last and have unmeasurable benefits!

john thomas assign #8

This article appeared in the Washington Post and was written Harold Meyerson. This article was written to draw everyone away from the window seal about jumping because they angry conservatives keep trying to play the Obama is a socialist card. It was also written to show people, especially conservatives that we are in the mess we are in because of unrestricted capitalism.

The writer pinpoints some harsh quotes by stauch conservative leaders that try to tie Obama to socialism with every news bite that circulates. Everything Obama's administration does that they are not in agreement with is "socialist". From heathcare to regulation of the financial sector, its all socialist to them. Rich, uptight conservatives have gotten so fat and rich with capitalistic greed that the only sector of the population they are concerned with is their own. They had their chance with unrestricted capitalism and they blew it and sent this country spiraling downwards, and all they seemed to be concerned with is keeping things they way they are so that they can keep at it some more when the storm clears.

The writer's point and argument is basically that Obama is not trying to envoke a socialist nation, like anyone in this country would stand for that anyway? He is trying to get people back to work and get this country moving again as well as trying to safeguard us from having such a massive failure like this one again.
